Horizons-on-the-Hudson Honors Fallen Heroes
HOH had a great time
Getting Out in Our Community Together and marching in the Memorial Day Parade Monday to honor our fallen heroes. Students were asked to submit Memorial Day Parade float designs that would honor our fallen heroes and represent our school. In a design collaboration, elements from various designs were included in the final design.
Our third, fourth, and fifth graders painted 4 beautiful flag faces and all 10 of our International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile Traits. Our pre-K classes added the stars to each flag. And finally our Kindergarteners, first, and second graders sandwiched two flag faces together with repurposed materials inside and stapled the edges. Each child in the school wrote their name on a strip of yellow paper to attach as fringe to our bubble letter H-O-H. It was a wonderful collaboration. The completed elements from the float are now on display in our "auditeria" for all students to see and enjoy!

HOH pasó un buen rato estando juntos en nuestra comunidad y marchando en el Desfile del Día de los Caídos el lunes para honrar a nuestros héroes caídos. ¡Aquí hay un vistazo a la carroza del Desfile del Día de los Caídos de HOH y todo el trabajo y el amor que se dedicaron a ella! Se pidió a los estudiantes que enviaran diseños de carrozas para el Desfile del Día de los Caídos que honrarían a nuestros héroes caídos y representarían a nuestra escuela. En una colaboración de diseño, se incluyeron elementos de varios diseños en el diseño final.
Nuestros alumnos de tercer, cuarto y quinto grado pintaron 4 hermosas banderas y los 10 rasgos de nuestro perfil de aprendizaje del Bachillerato Internacional (IB). Nuestras clases de prekínder agregaron las estrellas a cada bandera. Y finalmente, nuestros alumnos de jardín de infantes, primero y segundo grado intercalaron dos caras de bandera con materiales reutilizados en el interior y engraparon los bordes. Cada niño en la escuela escribió su nombre en una tira de papel amarillo para adjuntar como fleco a nuestra letra burbuja H-O-H. Fue una colaboración maravillosa. ¡Los elementos completos de la carroza ahora están en exhibición en nuestros auditorios para que todos los estudiantes los vean y disfruten!
