Response to Facebook Post

Dear Members of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, 

The District has been made aware that a group of employees have engaged in an exchange of commentary on Facebook that is reasonably perceived as offensive and racially insensitive, particularly towards the Black Community. The posts refer to a hair extension found on the floor in a classroom. Please understand, the District does not condone this type of behavior and will take the necessary actions to demonstrate the respect we have for our diverse community. 

This is the second recent situation that has focused on our Black Community. Please be aware that the District continues to work with law enforcement authorities to identify the individual that made a threat against the Black Community at Heritage Middle School, South Middle School, and Newburgh Free Academy - Main Campus. 

I ask that we all Shoulder Up and continue to speak out against inappropriate actions such as this.

Estimados miembros del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad Ampliada de Newburgh,

Se ha informado al Distrito que un grupo de empleados participó en un intercambio de comentarios en Facebook que se percibe razonablemente como ofensivo y racialmente insensible, particularmente hacia la comunidad negra. Las publicaciones se refieren a una extensión de cabello encontrada en el piso de un salón de clases. Por favor, comprenda que el Distrito no aprueba este tipo de comportamiento y tomará las medidas necesarias para demostrar el respeto que tenemos por nuestra comunidad diversa.

Esta es la segunda situación reciente que se ha centrado en nuestra comunidad negra. Tenga en cuenta que el Distrito continúa trabajando con las autoridades policiales para identificar a la persona que amenazó a la comunidad negra en Heritage Middle School, South Middle School y Newburgh Free Academy - Campus principal.

Pido que todos levantemos el hombro y sigamos hablando en contra de acciones inapropiadas como esta.
