Heritage Middle School Students Participate in Activities for Mental Health Awareness Month
For Mental Health Awareness Month in May, the Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Team coordinated a myriad of activities for students at Heritage Middle School. During Morning Announcements, students received healthy encouragements around utilizing coping skills and social supports, managing cell phone/social media usage, engaging in healthy conflict resolution, and practicing awareness and managing anxiety or any other common feelings. Lunchroom activities were implemented to engage students in identifying social supports, coping skills, and practice forming growth mindset statements. Finally, students helped create a bulletin board near the cafeteria to bring awareness to the importance and impact of mental health in our community. All students who participated in these initiatives were entered for a chance and six students were selected to receive a gift card.
