Fostertown ESY Library Program Scholars Become "Makers"
Students in the summer ESY (Extended School Year) library program at Fostertown Elementary read the book Be A Maker, by Katey Howes and illustrated by Elizabet Vukovic, and reflected on what it means to be a maker. Students discussed how being a maker includes making physical things like a telescope or lemonade stand, as well as being part of something bigger within a community or even something as simple as making someone smile. After contemplating about things they would be interested in making, the scholars set to work on drawing a blueprint of their ideas. They then began working on and tweaking their projects each week. Below are some of the amazing creations they came up with.
