Publishing Celebration at Gidney Avenue Memorial School 2022

On Wednesday, June 15th, students from Ms. Cepeda’s class culminated a year-long writing project by sharing their accomplishments with members of the school community. Scholars wrote illustrated books in Spanish and English.  Escorted by classmate, Skarleth Rodriguez Saute, scholars read their stories to children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The young authors ended each storytelling visit with a question-the-author session where they reflected on their process. As part of the celebration, students enjoyed an hour-long conversation with each other about writing. Building administrators, district administrators, and teachers also joined the discussion and celebration.
