NECSD Transportation Director Nominated for National Award
Governor Kathy Hochul has nominated two professionals from New Yorkers State for the U.S. Department of Education’s Recognizing Inspiring School Employees (RISE Award). NECSD Director of Transportation, Ms. Patricia Coyne, is one of the two professionals from our state who will be considered for this national award.
The RISE Award recognizes classified school employees, including paraprofessionals, clerical and administrative services, transportation services, health and student services, technical services, and skilled trades, who provide exemplary service to students. The Secretary of Education will select a candidate to receive the RISE Award next spring.
Ms. Coyne works tirelessly at all hours of the pre-dawn morning through the early evening to ensure transportation to our scholars in district, out of district, and to all after-school programs and extracurricular activities. The efforts put forth by the entire Transportation Department helps remove barriers, so our students can have access to a quality, well-rounded education.
Ms. Coyne's team joined her at a recent Board of Education meeting to share in her recognition of her nomination for a federal award. Congratulations to Trish and her team! Our students are very lucky to have you.
