21st Century After-School Academy Gets Underway at GAMS
The 21st Century Academy at GAMS is off to a great start! Staff and students at GAMS started after school programming this week. Participating students are receiving Social Emotional Learning support, targeted tutoring in ELA and Math, and STEAM activities. Student voice and choice is a priority for our scholars who were assisted in making their first and second choices of activities. Scholars chose from STEAM based enrichment activities including LEGO Robotics, Art From Around the World, Puppetry, Sports, and more.
Students were introduced to program administrators Rosalie Pena and Robert Glowacki, tutoring teachers, Angela Griffin, Elizabeth Lacerbo, Karin McCartney, Hilda Santana, Jeannie Ciccone, Teaching Assistants, Jeffrey Rodriguez, and Lisa Bentazos, Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh Artist Cari Skier and coach Marcus Simmons (former GAMS student), and SEL Facilitator Migdalia Moore.
Special thanks to our security Guard Pillar Cooper for keeping everyone safe during programming and dismissal. Our families attended the family orientation and expressed gratitude for the transportation services provided because without it many of their children would not be able to attend the 21st Century Academy.
