Scholars Owning their Own Learning at Gardnertown!
Happy Tuesday from Gardnertown Leadership Academy, where scholars are owning their own academic achievements through the use of their "Leadership/Student Data Binders"! Scholars as young as first grade all the way through 5th have been tracking their own academic progress through graphing and charts since September, in conjuction with their iReady program. In addition to assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and math, iReady offers a web-based program that targets the needs of individual students in ELA and math to insure students are reaching grade level expectations. The instruction is either teacher-led or online and always based on student needs. Students can also access the program independently for learning at home.
These scholars are now looking back and realizing how far they've come in just a few short months. They reflect daily on their progress, and when asked how it makes them feel, 5th graders Samantha & Taylor from Ms. Wilson's class agree, "it makes me feel proud that I am owning my own learning, and it shows me visually where I need to improve."
Language such as "attainable goals" and "accountability" has been integrated throughout the entire Gardnertown school community.
