NECSD Rings in the 2023-2024 School Year
On Tuesday, September 19th, the Newburgh Enlarged City School District (NECSD) celebrated the start of the new school year with its annual Ring the Bell Ceremony. This event celebrates community members who have had a positive impact on our children and community, and welcomes students to a new school year.
Led by Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jackielyn Manning Campbell, senior staff members, Board of Trustee members, school building leaders, and the ceremony honorees gathered at the Meadow Hill School Little Red Schoolhouse to Ring in the 2023-2024 school year.
The ceremony began with Dr. Manning Campbell acknowledging senior staff members and building leaders who worked diligently throughout the summer to provide a warm and welcoming start to the new school year. She also recognized the NECSD buildings, grounds, and custodial staff honorees for their commitment to excellence, professionalism and hard work. Mr. Brandon Szeli, Ms. Jennifer Dietz, Mr. Joseph Whitten, and Mr. Elvis De Jesus were each invited to "ring the bell" for their contributions to the district.
The Superintendent then expressed her appreciation for all NECSD Teaching assistants in our district. Teaching assistants, Mrs. Sheila Manning and Mrs. Deborah Pertrilli, were in attendance as honorees. Dr. Manning Campbell thanked the teaching assistants individually for the support they provide to our teachers and scholars engaging in academic excellence. She then invited them to ring the bell.
Next, Mr. John Etri and Mrs. Janet Orwick were recognized for their leadership in the pedagogical work being implemented throughout the district. The two Directors were also acknowledged for the impact they have had on specific groups of students in enhancing their academic experience. Mr. Etri for his enthusiasm and eagerness to enhance our Career and Technical Education programs and Mrs. Orwick for her consistency in advocating for our exceptional learners. They chose to ring the bell together.
Dr. Manning Campbell concluded the ceremony by giving the bell one last ring and thanking all of the attendees and honorees who work tirelessly to support Every Goldback, Every Day.
