Record Breaker Marina Parodo Scores 68th Goal as Varsity Goldback!
NFA Varsity Soccer Forward, Marina Parodo has broken the school record for goals as a Varsity Goldback! Parodo scored three goals to lead her team to a win during a non-league game against Beacon on September 20, 2023. Parodo’s second goal was her 68th as a Varsity Goldback, breaking the previous record set by Celina Carrero (class of 2013) in 2012.
Marina has committed to play Soccer next year for Division 1 Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.
In 2022, Parodo led the Goldbacks in scoring, helping to lead the team to an 8-8-1 record and a second-place finish in the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association Division I, ending their season in the Section 9 Class AA semifinals. That season Parodo was also named a Section 9 all-section all-star by the Section 9 Coaches Association for the second season in a row. Last year, Marina Parodo was also named a third-team all-state all-star by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Association for Girls Sports.
Over the summer, Parodo played with a team of athletes from Section 9. The squad won its tri-state league, won a New York state title and placed second at Eastern Regionals in June, earning one of 16 qualifying spots for July’s U.S. Youth Soccer Cup nationals in Orlando, Florida.
The Girls Varsity Soccer team is coached by Head Coach Dave Doulin and Assistant Coach and NFA Alumni Soccer athlete, Jennifer Grogan.
