South Middle School Hispanic Heritage Night
South Middle School hosted Hispanic Heritage Night to highlight and celebrate Hispanic cultures and influences present in their school and throughout the world. Students hosted the program. Students in Ms. Small's theater classes performed and students from the Newburgh Performing Arts Academy danced for the audience. Speakers included Mr. Roderick Phoenix, South Middle School principal, Dr. Chastity Martinez-Morales, Director of Language Acquisition, and Ms. Laura Garcia spoke about Hispanic Heritage Month and school services. Representatives from Latinos Unidos and the Orange County Department of Mental Health were also present to share resources and celebrate in the festivities.
After the program, attendees enjoyed food, dance lessons, art and poetry activities, project displays, and family and cultural displays.
