New Windsor School Scholars Head to the Movie Theater for Literary Analysis
The 2nd-grade students at New Windsor School went to Showtime Cinemas to see the movie Wonka. The movie ties into our Unit 3 of ARC. We compared and contrasted the content of the movie with the story elements from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a book we read as a whole class activity to add to our unit on literary analysis. We dissected the story elements of setting, characters, problem, and solution. We also discussed fictional and nonfictional elements in the movie. This trip also ties into Unit 1 of ARC where we build a community of avid readers and writers. Students had a great time and enjoyed the movie!
Story and Pictures by Ms. Hand and the 2nd Grade Team (Mrs. Gordon, Mrs. Merrill, Ms. Esposito).
