NFA Empty Bowls Returns | Raises Nearly $5K for Hudson Valley Food Bank
The annual tradition at NFA helping the many hungry people in our area returned this spring. Empty Bowls is a national network of volunteer efforts to provide hunger relief. All proceeds go to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, the main supplier to local food pantries and soup kitchens. The event raised $4,776.
Mr. Joshua Lipira and his Ceramics students made one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls. Members of the Empty Bowls Committee gathered supplies and collected generous baskets donated by each department in the high school. The gracious cafeteria staff made several delicious soups and Mr. Morrison and his students baked trays of delicious brownies. Our area businesses donated all parts of the meal, with a special donation of ice cream treats for dessert.
NFA Cosmetology students were on hand to volunteer for the event. Orchestra and Jazz Band students provided entertainment for the evening.
Special thanks to Ms. Melissa McKinstrie, Ms. Leanne Paganelli, Mrs. Monica Guido-Antonelli, Ms. Kristina Morano, Chef Jennifer Caron, and Mrs. Susan Schultz.
The NFA Empty Bowls committee members include: Jenn Caron, Leanne Paganelli, Gina Imperiale, Josh Lipira, Sue Schultz, Pilar Treus (retired), and Jim Morrison.
