NECSD Superintendent Joins US Secretary of Education for Discussion on Career Pathways


NECSD Superintendent, Dr. Jackielyn Manning Campbell and NFA P-TECH high school student, Leiyla Barthe sat alongside United States Secretary of Education, Dr. Miguel Cardona for a discussion about educational pathways to career success.

Hosted by Congressman Pat Ryan and Dutchess County Community College, the panel consisted of leaders in K-12 and higher education, industry and workforce development experts, and students who are currently enrolled in career pathways as part of their educational curriculum.

Newburgh Free Academy’s P-TECH program recently celebrated 10 years of successfully supporting high school students to simultaneously earn an Associate Degree from SUNY Orange, in partnership with IBM. Newburgh Free Academy also offers more than 20 Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs right within their high school buildings, helping scholars explore career options and develop the necessary skills to prepare for college and career.

Brackett. Executive Vice President Operations and Community Relations for Marist College, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, Superintendent of the Poughkeepsie City School District, Ms. Yvonne Flowers, Mayor of Poughkeepsie, Mr. Matteo Doddo, Newburgh Free Academy Co-Principal, Mr. Anthony Williams, NFA P-TECH House Principal, and Mr. Ajay Johnson, NFA P-TECH student and My Brother’s Keeper Fellow.
