NFA Student Fashion Designers & Photographers Host Photoshoot in Bryant Park
NFA Fashion and Photography scholars joined efforts to highlight their skills. Instead of their traditional one-night Fashion Show, the scholars traveled to Bryant Park in New York City to capture their culminating projects. NFA student fashion designers dressed and posed their models in their hand-created fashions while NFA student photographers captured the designs and creations of their classmates.

"As this is a potential future career, I am thankful to have the opportunity to experience how I would interact with models, with fashion artists and cosmetologists. I had to stay professional at all times, while having fun and enjoying myself." - Samayra Brown
"New York City is known for its style and lifestyle, a city of opportunity, and when you simply walk down the street, you never know what you're going to experience. Being in the city, you’re surrounded by the energy of people going about their day-to-day lives, living in the moment, a quick period where time feels like it's standing still and flying by all at once. New Yorkers are known for having hectic, busy lives, it's given us a reputation, and that reputation is seen in the city with vibrant colors. Being selected for the opportunity and experiencing what the city had to offer, even with models and just for a few hours is an experience I will never forget. Being able to photograph one of my best friends in that capacity truly changed my view on how a different outfit, hairstyle, and a little makeup can completely change someone's outlook and confidence. I got to witness people wearing unique things that defined who they are through an expression of art, while fellow artists lined up their surroundings and elements to complete the perspective no one knew we would achieve. I learned about lighting, how it affects your surroundings, and how to arrange up the perfect shot, the moment making all the difference. I feel like this experience showed me what I am capable of, how I can learn and build my skills through trial and error, success and failure, and how sometimes the shots you least expect can turn out perfect. This experience showed me how I can connect photography and the career I want to pursue, and how I can use them in conjunction to mutually benefit one another." - Arianna Sylvester
"I learned so much about different real life photography situations. We had to work with lighting, objects around us and different people. This experience helped me grow as a photographer tremendously. It helped me grow because I got experience of what fashion photography really is. It was also fun playing around with our models' different poses. I loved that we were able to capture their happiness in the pieces of clothing they made. It was fun to put their idea to life and see them love the photos. I am so happy that I was able to go on this trip and enjoy it with friends but also on the learning aspect." - Aleyna Birinci
"I thoroughly enjoyed my experience photographing at Bryant Park, despite the time constraints. Photographing people, especially in a fashion context, was uncharted territory for me, but it was an engaging experience and I learned a lot. As someone who also has an interest in fashion, this project has been truly, genuinely insightful. I hadn’t really considered merging these two interests, because I had resigned myself to being a landscape photographer; this experience, however, has shown me that fashion photography is both more fun and more accessible than I thought, and is now something I am considering actively pursuing." - Lucas Gage
