THIS SATURDAY | Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration & Big Read Kick-Off

Join us for an afternoon of culture and fun this Saturday, September 21st from 12pm - 3pm at the Newburgh Free Library pavilion, located at 124 Grand Street, Newburgh. Join us for a poetry reading with Daniel Villegas, Socacize & Zumba with La'Shawn Martinez, Big Read Proclamation with Mayor Harvey, Live Music from Unidos Latin Jazz, food trucks, and vendors!

This event will also celebrate the official launch of our Big Read literacy initiatives. Over the summer, the Newburgh Enlarged City School District and Newburgh Free Library, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read received a grant to provide programming to our community. From September 2024 through June 2025, Newburgh will explore the theme of "Where We Live" through poetry utilizing the featured reading of Hustle by David Tomas Martinez. With a focus on the rich history of our community, programming will inspire meaningful conversations and celebrate local creativity and voices. Free copies of Hustle will be available at this event.

We hope to see you there!
