Principal Doddo Presents His Story to US History & Government Class
Mr. Matteo Doddo, co-principal of NFA, North Campus presented to Mr. Torrance Harvey's US History & Government class last week. Mr. Doddo gave first hand experience on immigration, as he and his family emigrated to the US from Sicily in the early 1970s, when he was just eight years old! He is the oldest of four kids in his immediate family. Italian was his first language and the only language he knew when he and his family moved to Newburgh. Mr. Doddo attended Liberty Street School, then South Junior High, and graduated from NFA in 1980. He brought artifacts like photos of the ship he arrived in through Ellis Island in New York City. He also had passports and Visas and naturalization documents as well.
Story and photos provided by Mr. Torrance Harvey.
