Vails Gate Gators Knit Red For A Cause!
Scholars have been busy at Vails Gate STEAM Academy making tiny red hats for the American Heart Association. They began in December and sent numerous hats since then to the Tiny Hats Project. Babies born in February will receive a red hat at local hospitals within the community to help spread awareness for heart health. Vails Gate Teacher, Ms. Catherine Gilligan wrote a grant through the program Donors Choose and received yarn and crocheting hooks to teach our students. In honor of February being Heart Health Awareness Month, scholars are doing it with LOVE, but they were not the only ones participating in this important project. Many of the hats were made by employees of Finkelstein’s law offices, reading volunteers, teachers and assistants that have joined Vails Gate Gators in this very important community service project. It has been an excellent example for students to see others giving and making a difference. See some photos here of them in action!
