HOH National Elementary Honor Society Blood Drive a Success!
Students in the Horizons on the Hudson National Elementary Honor Society hosted a Blood Drive on Wednesday, February 21st in conjunction with the New York Blood Center. The drive collected 39 pints of much-needed blood, with donations from teachers, staff members, parents and members of the local community. As part of the effort, Honor Society students worked specific shifts throughout the day as well as signed up potential donors. Since 2012, the HOH chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society has overseen the collection of more than 200 pints of blood.
In addition to participating in the blood drive, students in grades four and five learned more about the need for blood, blood components and different blood types during an assembly led by New York Blood Center representatives on February 15th.
