NFA Celebrates Three More Scholar-Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent to Study and Compete
The Newburgh Free Academy and the Newburgh Enlarged City School District proudly celebrate three more high school athletes who have committed to study and complete collegiately for Division I schools. Student-athletes were recognized and celebrated by their coaches, family members, friends, teammates, and guests. More about these athletes can be found by clicking this link.
The district follows the guidelines for NCAA Signing Days for celebrating athletes. Student-athletes who commit to study and compete for a college or university after the official signing day will be celebrated in the spring. Students who have committed to study and compete at the collegiate level are asked to complete the district's National Letter of Intent Signing Form to participate in the recognition ceremonies.

BRADY DANYLUK | Men's Track & Field at Northeastern University | Division I
Brady Danyluk has been a member of the NFA Boys Cross Country team since 8th grade and Boys Track & Field team since 10th year. He has been a Captain for the Cross Country team for three years and a Team Leader for the Track team for two years.
Brady has committed to run at Division 1 Northeastern University in Boston beginning the Fall of 2025. He plans to study Civil Engineering. He is joined in this recognition by his parents, Peter and Ann Danyluk.

ELLE GERBES | Women's Swimming at Binghamton University | Division I
Elle Gerbes began swimming competitively when she was in 7th grade and has been on NFA's varsity team for six years.
Elle has committed to swim at Division 1 Binghamton University in the Fall of 2025. She plans to study Biomedical Engineering. She is joined in this recognition by his parents, Jody and Kristi Gerbes. Elle expressed thanks for everyone who has supported her to reach this achievement, "I just want to say that I'm so thankful for everyone who has supported me through my career so far and college search!"

1-time Section IX Champion (50 Freestyle)
7-time individual section IX podium finisher

50 Freestyle School Record Holder - November, 2023
Set a Newburgh Free Academy Record in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.97, breaking the record previously set in 1996 (C. Herr). (Elle is the first woman to break 24.00 in NFA Swimming history).
Awards:
2024 NYSPHSAA/Section IX Swimming Sportsmanship Award
Honors a high school female swimmer from each NYS Section who exemplifies exceptional sportsmanship, integrity, and respect in and out of the pool, as recognized by coaches at the NYSPHSAA Swimming Championship.

JACK MUMMERY | Men's Swimming at LeMoyne College | Division I
Jack Mummery has been swimming competitively for eight years.
Jack has committed to swimming at Division I LeMoyne College and plans to study Biology, on a Pre-Med track. He is joined in this recognition by his parents, Christopher and Danielle Mummery.
High School athletic career accomplishments include:

6-time individual Podium Finisher
Section IX Champion (400M Freestyle Relay)
States Championships:
3-time State Qualifier
2-time Individual State Finalist
Awards:
2-time Outstanding Swimmer Award Receiver
This is the second signing of the school year. Earlier this year, the district celebrated three scholar athletes: Petyon Tuttle committed to study with and swim for LeMoyne College (Division I), Riley Frederick committed to study with and play soccer for Wagner College (Division I), and Nikolas Buchholz committed to study with and play lacrosse for Lincoln Memorial University (Division II).
