Hearts and Snow Kindness Mural at New Windsor School
The scholars at New Windsor School participated in a school-wide focus on celebrating Kindness during “The Great Kindness Challenge” the last week in January. In their art classes, students took inspiration from acts of kindness and used kind words to create a tape mural collaboratively throughout the hallways. The students in grades 3, 4, and 5 used multi-colored painter’s tape to draw their unique designs, words, and phrases. The theme for this year’s mural was “Hearts and Snow;” the students depicted the characteristics of snow falling, snowmen and snowwomen, hearts of all sizes, and more, along with many different words, including forms of the word kind and words that share a similar meaning to kindness into a colorful mural along the main hallways. Through this exercise, we got students talking about how being kind is essential and how it feels good to be kind and helpful to one another. The students love this medium, and they love working together. It was a kind and cooperative effort!
