A Farewell Toast to HOH 5th Graders: Sneakers, Spotlights, and Scrambled Eggs
HOH 5th Graders, Faculty & Staff at the Sneaker Ball
Horizons on the Hudson hosted a series of unforgettable events for our graduating 5th grade class with a dynamic trio that brought our community together in the most spirited ways.
The Sneaker Ball
The Sneaker Ball, celebrating 5th graders, was an electrifying event where students and teachers danced the night away together in their finest attire paired with their favorite sneakers. The auditeria transformed into a vibrant dance floor, pulsating with popular tunes like “Pink Pony Club” that had everyone singing along. One of the night's most memorable moments was the spirited dance-off between students and teachers, showcasing moves that had the crowd cheering. Many eagerly joined in dances like “Shake It Off,” group favorites such as “Boots on the Ground,” and the classic Soul Train line. The event was beautifully captured in photos and videos below, preserving memories of laughter, dance, and community spirit.
The Talent Show
The celebration continued with a showcase of creativity and courage, at the 5th Grade Talent Show, proving to be a true testament of the diverse talents of our student body, faculty and staff. Students wowed the audience with heartfelt solo and duet performances, expressive poetry, dazzling contemporary and ballet dance routines and resounding drumming. The grand finale was a showstopper featuring a collaborative "Boots on the Ground" dance by both students and teachers adorned in cowboy hats and boots, symbolizing the unity of our school community. From the first note to the final bow, our performers lit up the stage, inspiring pride in our school community. These performances were also documented through photos and videos below, serving as a lasting tribute to the talents showcased.
The 5th Grade Brunch
To cap off their final festivities, the 5th grade class enjoyed a celebratory brunch with a morning full of joy and delicious food, a well-earned recognition. Students, faculty and staff arrived in matching commemorative shirts, generously sponsored by Mr Lindwood Rhodes, adding a fun and unified touch to the event. A hearty, full breakfast was provided by Broadway Coffee Shop, filling the room with the comforting aroma of sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes, grits, and community warmth. This meaningful gathering gave students and staff a moment to reflect on the year’s accomplishments and to look ahead with pride and excitement.
All three events not only highlighted the incredible talents and commitment of our students, faculty and staff, but also reinforced the strong sense of community, exemplifying who we are at HOH.

Special thanks to Dr. Kauth, Music Teacher for his help in coordinating logistics, Mrs. Dillion, AIS Reading Teacher for stepping into the spotlight as our enthusiastic and dynamic emcee, and Mrs. Suazo-Gordon, ENL Teacher for bringing the energy as our resident DJ during the Talent Show. We are also deeply grateful to our dedicated faculty and staff, and to the amazing parents who generously chaperoned the Sneaker Ball, and to faculty and staff who help with the 5th Grade Brunch. Your time, effort, and community spirit helped create meaningful experiences that our students will cherish for years to come.
We also want to thank our PTO for its unwavering support with all of our events.
Extra Special Thanks
We offer our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Pittman who, this year alone, has served in many roles at HOH, including Long-Term Music and Special Education Substitute Teacher, and perhaps most memorably as our unofficial Planner-of-Fun-in-Chief. She spearheaded each of these incredible events with unwavering dedication, creative vision, and tireless energy. Her efforts in securing support and sponsorships, even coordinating the relaunch of our school store, made every celebration not only possible but truly extraordinary. Thanks to her leadership, our 5th graders enjoyed a send-off filled with joy, pride, and unforgettable memories!
