Tooting our own horn for the Transportation Department!
Every day, there are 210 school buses on the road, from 5 different bus companies to 14 school district buildings, with additional buses heading to 95 out-of-district buildings.
We estimate that our school buses travel 12,500 miles per day!
This summer, our Transportation, Registration, and Communication Departments encouraged families to update their information to avoid re-routing families who had moved.
Next, our Transportation Department worked with bus companies to route our students.
School bus routes were shared with our families earlier than ever (two weeks before the first day of school), and the transportation issue form was placed on the website that allowed for our Transportation team to address concerns in the order in which they were received. By the end of the first week of school, the Transportation Department had resolved 258 issues.
Building leaders and office staff updated the Dismissal Departure Form, so families and caregivers could gauge arrival times to student stops at the end of the day, as everyone settled into a new routine.
And - all students were taught school bus safety protocols during the first full week of school!
Due to the summer work and use of the form, call volume was down and transportation issues were addressed more quickly than they have in the past.
We'd like to extend a big thanks to our Transportation Department for continuing to improve their efforts to provide a safe and seamless ride for our scholars and their families!
