Hispanic Heritage at NFA North Campus
The 2025 Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at NFA North Campus took place on October 15, 2025, under the national theme “Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.” The program began with a warm welcome from Co-Principal Mr. Matteo Doddo, followed by a video presentation celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. NFA North teacher Mr. Torrance Harvey shared a moving poetry reading, and attendees enjoyed another video titled “Join the Celebration.” Special guests, including NECSD Athletic Director Mr. Christopher Herrera and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Elisa Correa Soto, were recognized for their contributions.
The event featured lively dance performances by GAMS students, highlighting traditions from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. Mr. Alonzo’s students presented projects on food and culture, sharing traditional dishes such as arroz con habichuela, ceviche peruano, and colada morada. Quotes and reflections were offered by administrators Mr. Anthony Williams, Ms. Layne, and Mr. Broglia, emphasizing the importance of cultural pride and unity. The celebration concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Doddo, reaffirming the district’s commitment to honoring diversity and inspiring future generations.
