NFA West Scholars Learn Chess Through Newburgh Armory Unity Center Partnership

NFA West Scholars are learning the fundamental elements of chess through a partnership with the Newburgh Armory Unity Center (NAUC). Mr. Bill Kaplan and Mr. Robert Pagliaro have been teaches lessons about chess basics as well as more in depth elements of the game. Students have learned algebraic notation and chess literacy, foundational concepts and definitions, and have participated in instructional fragment games. 

Once NFA West scholars are more familiar with the game, they will begin volunteering at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center to teach younger students.
