Tiny Scholars, Big Stories: Pre-K Parade Celebrates the Week of the Young Child
The youngest scholars of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District took center stage this week in a vibrant display of color, creativity, and community. To mark the culmination of the Week of the Young Child, our Pre-K students participated in a spirited parade that brought the joy of literacy to life.
Dressed as their favorite book characters, the students paraded through the halls and school grounds, showcasing the imagination and developing literacy skills they have cultivated throughout the year.
The costume parade served as a powerful highlight of the district’s commitment to early childhood education. By transforming into beloved figures from literature—ranging from the Very Hungry Caterpillar to modern-day heroes—our students demonstrated a deep connection to the stories they are learning to read.
The parade was the grand finale of a week-long celebration designed to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families. Throughout the week, classrooms engaged in various activities celebrating our youngest scholars!
Literacy is at the heart of the #GoldbackStandard, and events like the Pre-K parade help foster a positive association with books from the very beginning. By celebrating their progress, the district aims to ensure that every child feels empowered and excited about their academic future.
