New Windsor Drama Club Performs Stone Soup and Makes World a Better Place
The New Windsor Drama Club recently gave two exceptional performances of the musical Stone Soup, based on the beloved literary classic. Students created their own costumes, memorized lines, and performed both solo and group musical numbers. New Windsor’s talented team of artistic scholars also designed, created, and staged the perfect backdrop for the production.
For ten weeks, students rehearsed every Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. before school, gaining hands-on experience in theater production, performance, set design, and construction. The story’s message, “when we come together as a community and share what we have, we make the world a better place for all,” inspired students to give back to their own community by hosting a school-wide food drive. The collected donations were given to the Deacon Jack Seymour Food Pantry on Robinson Avenue. Directors Paul and Linda Zalanowski expressed their gratitude for the generosity and kindness shown by the students.
Musical directors Karen Sheehy and Mary Petruncola, along with set designer Jaime De Forest, are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by these talented students and are already looking forward to next year’s production. Special thanks to administrators Dennis Camt and Chris Lee for their continued support of the Arts!
