Horizons on the Hudson Honor Society Students Meet Assemblyman Skoufis
Members of the Horizons on the Hudson National Elementary Honor Society traveled to Albany this week to tour the Capitol Building and to meet with local assemblyman James Skoufis. The fourth and fifth grade students were able to ask the assemblyman about how bills are put into laws, what the favorite part of his job is and what legislation he sponsored that he feels is the most important. During the Capitol Building tour, students had an opportunity to sit in both the Assembly and Senate chambers and to learn about the building’s history and architecture. The Horizons chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society is in its tenth year at the school and participates in a variety of service-related activities, including a food drive, annual blood drive and community clean-ups.
