NFA North Student Science Researcher Recognized for Research

Newburgh Free Academy North Campus senior and science researcher, Stephanie Alvarado was recognized at the Board of Education meeting this week for her research project. In January, Stephanie was selected to present her research at the 19th Annual Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS). Seniors who applied to this prestigious competition were not guaranteed a selected spot. This year, 111 research students from schools in the Eastern section of New York submitted their research papers for only 80 available spots. Stephanie was selected as one of the student researchers who represent the top science research students in Eastern New York.

Stephanie’s research is titled: The Effectiveness of Herb Infused Oils vs. Chemical Cleaning Products on Bacteria Reduction. She will be presenting her research along with her peers at the 8th Annual Science Research Symposium on Thursday, April 30th, 2020 at Newburgh Free Academy North Campus. The Science Research classes and symposium are taught and organized by Ms. Kristin Oberle
