Deputy Superintendent, Mr. Ed Forgit Receives Mid-Hudson School Study Council Award for Excellence

Mr. Forgit

Deputy Superintendent of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, Mr. Ed Forgit recently received an Award for Excellence in Administration from the Mid-Hudson School Study Council (MHSSC).

The MHSSC commended and thanked each of the ten recipients for their commitment to their communities, schools, and students.  “They are the leaders of our schools, large and small, and they are the leaders of our BOCES.  The individuals we honor tonight serve as coordinators, managers, principals, assistant principals, assistant superintendents and deputy superintendents. Each plays a critical role within their district or BOCES, and each has a passion for doing what is best for students and the communities in which they work,” Roberta Greene, Executive Director read as she introduced the award.

Prior to receiving the award, Ms. Greene read an excerpt from Mr. Forgit’s nomination:

“Mr. Ed Forgit has been the Deputy Superintendent of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District for the past 10 years.  Born and raised in Newburgh, educated in the Newburgh schools, and now generously giving back to Newburgh, Ed is a leader who demonstrates and engenders trust and loyalty from all constituents.  He is patient, he is kind, and he is tolerant of ideas that may differ from his own.  Ed allows others room to follow their own path.  He has the unique ability to manage change, not by directing and demanding, but rather by teaching, at times re-teaching, supporting and commending positive movement.  Ed is an outstanding leader not only in how he interacts within the educational community, but also in his unwavering belief that Newburgh is a great place to live and learn.”

Mr. Forgit was joined and celebrated by colleagues and friends from the Central Office and Board of Education as he accepted the award.
