Beautiful Hair The Musical is the story of an academically gifted, African-American high school senior named Jamila who runs for Student Body President as she attempts to improve her academic resume for Princeton.

Thirty-six music students from Heritage and South Middle Schools, Meadow Hill GEM School and Newburgh Free Academy Main Campus attended the OCMEA Jr. High All County Auditions.

New Windsor School held its annual Winter Concert on January 23rd to a standing-room-only crowd. Students from the Advanced Orchestra, Advanced Band, and 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade Choruses shared their talents.

Featuring song, dance, and special guest speaker, NFA Alumnus Chaundre Hall. Hall has acting credits that include FBI, Law & Order, Luke Cage, Kingdom Business, and Hamilton (Broadway National Tour).

Dr. Gina Prokosch-Cook, DDS talked about proper oral hygiene practices, the importance of regular dental checkups, and how to prevent tooth decay by promoting healthy eating habits.

Newburgh Free Academy, the School Counseling Department, and NFA Black History Club hosted its 3rd Annual College and Career event focusing on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

The Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program is FREE for children living within the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.

Students wrote journal entries about their own life experiences and core memories. They created collages of these memories in the shape of Egyptian Ankh Symbols and painted them gold. Some students added jewels to represent importance.

Heritage Middle School students in Ms. Clina’s General Music classes are using the computer program Soundtrap to learn about and explore the elements of music through electronic music composition.

Ms. Purdy purchased a class set of the book The Mitten by Jan Brett, and students will be using their puppets as reading buddies as another method of literacy interaction.

Newburgh Free Academy is one of thirteen (13) schools in New York State to earn this prestigious honor. NFA is the first school in section 9 to receive this national award.

Our students were recognized for their excellence in Characters of Respect and Self-Control; character traits for November and December - respectively.
