Elementary Selection Information for Children Entering Kindergarten

If you know someone with a child who will be Kindergarten age next year, please help us spread the word! (Birthdate between 12/2/2017-12/1-2018 for the 2023-2024 school year.)

Welcome to Goldback Nation! It is the time of year in which families of future Kindergarteners need to make a choice for elementary school. The Newburgh Enlarged City School District currently has seven elementary schools and two K-8 schools. Additional information about the schools and their various programs can be found on our NECSD website newburghschools.org. 

This year, elementary school selection for Kindergarten students will take place utilizing our Parent Portal via  survey that will be open from January 9, 2023 through March 31, 2023. There are directions below based on various categories. Please follow the instructions for the section that best fits your needs.

Important things to note: 

• Once choices are made, all students are entered into a school selection process. 
• You will receive the results (via USPS mail and on your Parent Portal account) of the selection mid-July if you submit prior to March 31, 2023. If you submit after the deadline you may not have a placement by the first day of school.

CURRENT PreK/PS student with Activated Parent Portal Account:

• Log in to your Parent Portal
• Go to Message Center
• Select Survey Option
• Fill out all areas of the survey

CURRENT PreK/PS student without Activated Parent Portal Account:

• Activate your Parent Portal account using your personalized key. Personalized keys were sent to all Pre-K/PS families at the end of December.
• Once you activate your Parent Portal Account, follow the steps below to complete your Selections:
• Log in to your Parent Portal
• Go to Message Center
• Select Survey Option
• Fill out all areas of the survey

NEW Student to the district: 

Register your child by visiting NewburghSchools.org/Registration and follow the directions that best fit your needs. Tutorial videos are available.
