Middle School Selection Information for Current 5th Grade Scholars

Hello 5th grade Goldiebacks!

It's time for current Grade 5 students to make a selection for middle school! The Newburgh Enlarged City School District currently has two Middle School campus options, South Middle School and Heritage Middle School. As a reminder, Middle School Selection Tour information can be found below. Additional information about the schools can also be found at our NECSD website newburghschools.org. 

[Please note, students who are currently enrolled in K-8 buildings (Meadow Hill School and Temple Hill School) will remain in their current school building for the middle school grade levels). No action regarding selection is needed at this time for those students.]

Selection Tour Information:

Selection Tours are an opportunity to visit both middle schools, learn about specific programs for each building, and meet with faculty and staff. It is important for students and families to visit each middle school campus to make the best decision for them. 

Heritage Middle School - Tuesday, January 30th from 6pm - 8pm (Doors open at 5:30pm) 
 (rescheduled from 1/17 and 1/23)
  Session 1: 6pm - 6:45pm
Session 2: 7pm - 7:45pm

Selection Information | Parent Portal Survey:

This year, school selection will take place utilizing a Parent Portal Survey. You will need to create a Parent Portal account if you haven’t already. The Infinite Campus Parent Portal Application can be utilized by the web or downloaded free from the app store. Once activated you will have access to the Survey for your child when the survey opens. If you currently have an active Parent Portal, you will only need to follow the process below to complete the Survey. Tutorial videos are available, visit NewburghSchools.org/Registration and select the tab that best fits your needs. The Survey will be available January 2, 2024 through February 25, 2024.

Important things to note: 

• You must choose either South Middle School or Heritage Middle School. Once choices are made, all students are entered into a school selection process. 
• If you do not make a selection, your child will be put into the general selection process.
• Any required specialized programming for your child, may impact the school assignment (i.e.: IEP, etc.)

• You will receive the results (via USPS mail and on your Parent Portal account) of the selection in late spring
• Transfer requests will not be accepted until July 1, 2023

CURRENT NECSD student with Activated Parent Portal Account:

• Log in to your Parent Portal
• Go to Message Center
• Select Survey Option
• Fill out all areas of the survey

CURRENT NECSD student without Activated Parent Portal Account:

• Activate your Parent Portal account using your personalized key. Personalized keys were sent to 5th grade families at the end of December.
• Once you activate your Parent Portal Account, follow the steps below to complete your Selections:
• Log in to your Parent Portal
• Go to Message Center
• Select Survey Option
• Fill out all areas of the survey

NEW student to the district: 

Register your child by visiting NewburghSchools.org/Registration and follow the directions that best fit your needs.
